New research group dedicated to the study of sustainable and innovative constructions is created.
Based on the Department of Civil Engineering / UFV, the new research group SICon (Sustainable and Innovative Construction) brings together researchers, technicians and students dedicated to the study of smart building systems and sustainable and innovative materials.
Despite its creation on the CNPq platform only in May 2019, research activities in related lines began even in the 80s. However, a great advance in scientific production was achieved thanks to the creation of the concentration area of Construction Engineering within the Postgraduate Program in Civil Engineering of the UFV in the 2000s.
The research group DEC UFV Structures, created in 2002, embarked all researchers in the areas of Civil Construction and Structural Engineering until recently. However, the rapid growth of scientific activities in both sectors and the arrival of new researchers made the group very large and the need for a new group emerged.
Thus, although recently created, the SICon research group already has an important bibliographic production and a considerable infrastructure, as can be seen on its website.
The new group aims to contribute to the scientific development in a dynamic and multidisciplinary way, in the search for more sustainable practices in the construction sector.
