Members of the research group SICon publish an article in the journal “Construction and Building Materials”.
The article “Evaluation of mechanical and microstructural properties of eggshell lime/rice husk ash alkali-activated cement” is available in vol. 364, 2023, of the journal.
The authors are researchers of the Departments of Civil Engineering of the Federal University of Viçosa and Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul. Those are: Flávio Antônio Ferreira, Jean Marie Desir, Gustavo Emilio Soares de Lima, Leonardo Gonçalves Pedroti, José Maria Franco de Carvalho, Andres Lotero e Nilo Cesar Consoli.
The work evaluates the mechanical and microstructural properties of alkali-activated cement, proposing the development of a binder produced from rice husk ash and eggshells, as a possible alternative to Portland Cement.
